Dear all,
I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude for the support that I have received from everyone during this difficult time. Your kind messages and gestures have been a great source of comfort to me, and I feel truly lucky to be part of such a caring and compassionate community.
As we reflect on the achievements of our students this term, I am proud to say that they have done an outstanding job. Our secondary students recently attended a camp, which was a resounding success. The camp provided students with a fantastic opportunity to engage in fun and challenging activities, and I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Mike for his excellent organisation of the event. I would also like to thank all the staff who supported the camp and helped to make it such a memorable experience for our students.
In addition to the camp, we have had a range of other activities and events taking place in school over the last two weeks, all of which have contributed to the overall success of our students. From Peace Box donations to Kindness Week and World Down Syndrome Awareness Day, our students have been actively engaged in making a positive impact on our community. I would like to thank all the staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure that our students have had the best possible learning experiences.
I am delighted to share that one of our vocational partners, the SENsational Foundation, has kindly sponsored an opportunity for our family carers/helpers to participate in a mindfulness session with Atmarpit Shraddhaji, a breath coach, and SRMD Yoga Head visiting from India. The session was an incredible success, and we received positive feedback from all who attended.
On a bittersweet note, I would like to bid farewell to Kai Cho Tse, an educational assistant who has been an integral part of our school community for the past 14 years. Kai Cho has been a dedicated and valued member of our team and will be missed. We wish him all the best as he pursues his studies, and we hope that he will keep in touch with us in the future.
Congratulations to Novia Trottier on her new role as a class teacher at JCSRS. Novia will start in her new role after Easter and will initially work across different classes. We look forward to her contributions in this new capacity.
I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce and welcome new staff members to our school community. Natalie Ireland has joined us as a PE Educational Assistant; Francis Buenvenida will join us after Easter as an Educational Assistant and Holly Yip as a PTA Administrator.
Finally, with the Easter break fast approaching, I would like to wish all of our students, staff, and parents a happy and restful holiday. This is a time to recharge and spend time with loved ones, and I hope that everyone will take the opportunity to do so. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on 8th April, ready to embrace the new term with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
Thank you again for your support and dedication to our school community.
Warm regards,
Anna

What a delight it was to visit the newly opened Ronald McDonald House and view our wall mural created by JCSRS students. It was great to see our alum Paulo join us on the visit. We are also excited about the possibilities to connect with such a worthwhile cause in the future.
Last week was Kindness Week at KGV, and we were invited to participate in their school-wide Heart Photo on Thursday, 14 March. This was an aerial photo taken by a drone.
JCSRS students were excited about the event and wore colourful shirts to celebrate. They have been learning to feel good about themselves in RSE lessons and had a great opportunity to learn how to be kind and polite to friends and community members.
Last week Asfand, Jadon, Jessica, Katy and Shivansh competed in the Rugby for Good Ageas Inclusive Inter-school Rugby Sevens Competition. They played three 20-minute games in total.
In the first game, it was quite challenging for them as they found it difficult to take tags off the opponents but they did manage to score tries. After the first game, they practised taking tags and running support lines during the break. In the last game, they improved a lot by taking tags and kept chasing the defender until they reached the try line.
We were very excited to see them put in their maximum effort. Due to this, the team won the Helping Group Cup. Well done, everyone, for finishing in first place.
Our carer/helper appreciation event was a wonderful way to finish the school term. Sixteen participants were fortunate to experience a session with Shraddhaji, a visiting yoga teacher from India, followed by a morning tea and end-of-term assembly.
Acknowledging all of the care, love and support that our carers/helpers give to our students is one small way of representing our heartfelt appreciation.

The world is rich with diversity, which is reflected in the observances celebrated by its various cultures and populations. We hope that knowledge of the holidays and celebrations for diversity in this calendar can enhance our school's diversity and inclusion efforts.
