Dear all,
As we prepare for the Easter break, I wanted to take a moment to share some important updates and extend a heartfelt farewell.
Farewell to Holly, our PTA Administrator
Today, we say goodbye to Holly, who has been an integral part of our school community as PTA Administrator for the past two years. On behalf of the school and the wider community, I want to express our sincere gratitude for her dedication and contributions. Holly has supported the PTA through a significant transition – from a limited company to an association – and has been instrumental in bringing countless PTA events to life, most recently our 40th-anniversary celebrations. She will be greatly missed, and we wish her all the best in the new chapter ahead.
Inclement weather and distance learning
As we move into Term 3, we anticipate that the weather may again disrupt learning. I want to remind everyone that school closures due to weather, including during the T3 signal, are mandated by the Education Bureau. As always, we are reviewing our online learning arrangements to ensure we can offer the best possible learning experience for our students in the event of a closure. Please refer to the outline here for our current arrangements.
Traffic arrangements after Easter
Please also take note of the special traffic arrangements on Sheung Kin Street due to road works from 28 March to 17 May. These details were shared in our last newsletter and are copied here for your ease of reference.
A final note
Recent events in the Middle East are deeply concerning and may be impacting travel plans for some of our families. Despite these uncertainties, I hope that everyone will find time to rest, connect with loved ones, and enjoy a peaceful Easter break.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to welcoming students back for Term 3.
Warm regards,
Anna
Dear Families,
Please sign up for Extra Curricular Activities.
We want to provide our students and families with consistent and reliable extracurricular activities that will allow children the opportunity to develop a range of skills.
Activities will be led by external providers.
Activities may have to be supported by adults from home, and the level of support required will be based on the needs of students and the type of activity. We will contact individual parents after the sign-up is closed to confirm arrangements for their child.
If we have more students signing up for activities than places, we will randomly allocate places.
We are not able to provide a bus service for students who take part in activities before or after school.
Drop-ins will not be possible.
Sign-ups for activities will be available on Gateway from today, 27 March, to 3 April, 2026. The activities offered are as follows.
Monday 2.45 – 3.30 pm: Short Tennis (Special Sports – HK$600 for 4 sessions)
Tuesday 2.45 – 3.30 pm: Short Tennis (Special Sports – HK$750 for 5 sessions)
Thursday 2.45 – 3.30 pm: Soccer (Asia Pacific Soccer School – HK$840 for 7 sessions)
Friday 2.45 – 3.30 pm: Taekwondo (Jesse Chow – HK$900 for 6 sessions)
You can find the guide on how to sign up here. Sign-ups will close on Friday, 3 April, and places will be confirmed by Tuesday, 14 April.

Dear Families,
At JCSRS, the wellbeing of our students and staff is an ongoing priority. Recently, we have been experiencing an increase in respiratory illnesses. To ensure we keep our learning environments safe, healthy, and open to learning, we are reaching out to share important guidance and reminders.
Preventing the spread of germs is a collective effort. We are reinforcing these habits at school and encourage you to do the same at home.
Hand hygiene – regular washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds is the most effective way to stop the spread of respiratory droplets.
Respiratory etiquette – where possible, remind your child to cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or the crook of their elbow.
Temperature checks – please check your child’s temperature before leaving for school. A fever is often the first sign that the body is fighting an infection.
Maintain good indoor ventilation systems.
Cleaning and disinfection protocols are regularly performed throughout the school day.
Seek medical advice if unwell.
We recognise that younger children and those with developing hygiene habits can find self-care more challenging. Our staff will be vigilant in providing extra reminders and supervised hand-washing, with practice at home reinforcing good habits. We ask that, if your child is unwell, please consider if they are well enough to be at school. If your child has a fever, a persistent cough, or is feeling unwell, the best place for them to recover is at home. This not only speeds up their recovery but also protects the rest of our community.
Thank you for your ongoing support and for helping us keep our school a healthy environment for everyone.
Kind regards,
JCSRS Team
Dear Families,
The ESF primary choirs and orchestras have been working hard on preparations for the Primary Music Concert. There will be nearly one thousand students taking part in this prestigious event!
The process of reaching this stage of planning began last academic year, with the concert coordinators working with the ESF Centre events team on site visits and the event's visual design. The performing arts departments made artistic decisions on the choice of music, which then had to be purchased. This academic year, teachers began teaching the repertoire to the choirs and orchestras and are now planning how the event will look.
Since so many students are taking part this year, the decision has been made to stage the concert twice to avoid having to restrict ticket sales. By staging two concerts, families can bring siblings, relatives and friends to celebrate their children's achievements and share the joy of the occasion. Selected students from JCSRS will also be performing. Families of performing students will be contacted separately. Student performers will be expected to take part in both concerts.
Tickets will go live tomorrow, 5 March 2026, at 10 am. You can secure your seats via Urbtix.
Your ticket purchase helps us provide a professional-grade experience for the children, covering everything from the venue's sound and lighting to copyright and arrangement fees. We appreciate your support in making this event possible.
Note: for any ticketing or transaction enquiries, please reach out to Urbtix support first.
The concert details are as follows.
Dates: Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 April 2026
Time: both concerts will be at 7 pm
Venue: Queen Elizabeth Stadium, 18 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Chai
Ticketing: tickets will be available from 10 am on 5 March via Urbtix
We hope you are all as excited as we are for our students to come together in music and song.
If you have any questions, please email me at jackie.newman@jcsrs.edu.hk.
Best regards,
Jackie Newman
