Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
Happy New Year!
We are very happy to welcome back our students, albeit mostly in the distance learning mode. We can’t wait to see them all at school for half a day next week.
Although we would all very much rather have all students back on site, we are very confident that our students and staff know exactly what to do, and that everyone will make the very most of their learning opportunities, regardless of the mode of delivery. Please get in touch with us if you have any questions about the learning schedule and the provision offered over the next few weeks.
We welcome new students who are transitioning to JCSRS from other ESF schools: Terence in Sapphire Class and Azeen in Diamond class. We are sure that our student community will also offer them a very warm welcome and make every effort to get to know them quickly.
We also welcome new staff: Wincy Ng, Library Assistant and PeiLan Deng, Cleaner. Unfortunately, our new OT Robyn Turnbull is still not able to finalize her mover from South Africa to Hong Kong. Robyn will start to work remotely with our OT team. She might be in touch with some of you in the near future.
As we leave 2020 behind, we reflect on the many significant challenges with which we have had to face in the last 12 months. Despite the obvious challenges we have had so many positive things to celebrate and be really proud of our ongoing achievements.
We all hope that 2021 brings peace and at some point return of relative normality that we are all longing for. I know that regardless of circumstance our fantastic community will work together and with you I look forward to exciting future developments in the life of the school.
Warm regards,
Anna
Message from Library Team
As part of our library improvements, we would like to complete a stock take of all our resources. Please can parents return all books back to school next week. This includes home readers as well as library books. Please can you let us know before Friday 15th if any books are missing or you cannot return for any reason (e.g. student absence).
Many thanks from the library team.
Curriculum: What’s happening in RSE this term?
Following our online parent information session with Dr Scarlott Mattoli we followed up with a recorded video of the presentation shared through the ESF app.
Our data tells us that 85% of our parent community accessed the information shared via the app. This is a great response and hopefully those who viewed the session found it as informative as those who attended.
For any family still interested, please contact Belinda McLaughlin via email. Feedback from the session is welcomed via this short Google form.
Dr Scarlott Mattoli’s session is a great lead into our focus this term on The Human Body and Development. More information will be shared in the coming weeks.
If you have any questions regarding any aspect of RSE please contact your child’s class teacher or RSE co-ordinator/VP Belinda McLaughlin.
