Dear all,
This week and next week teachers and therapists are meeting with parents to discuss students strengths, progress and to discuss their stretches (things that are hard but are achievable). Views of the student and family are central to the discussion as we want long term outcomes and IEPs to be meaningful and supportive of the family aspirations for the future. Following the annual review meetings teachers will write new Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and will share them with parents.
If you were not able to arrange the meeting there is still time to get in touch with your class teacher to find a mutually agreeable time to meet.
Return to full days at school
We are very pleased that our plan to return to full days of school at JCSRS has been approved. Full days will recommence from Monday, 31st May. Our health and safety procedures will continue to be used, and all EDB / CHP guidance will continue to be followed to ensure student safety.
The school day will start at 8:45am and end at 2:45pm. Teachers will share updated class timetables once they are finalised. Rehabus has been informed of this change and is able to provide services as usual.
As ever, please contact us should you have any questions about the return to school arrangements.
We Are The World Exhibition
We are very proud of our students for putting together such an amazing art exhibition.
The exhibition involved the whole school with learning design developed using New Pedagogies for Deep Learning frameworks so a lot of time, energy and passion has gone into the creative process. At school we have seen students developing their global competencies of communication, critical thinking and citizenship. It has been wonderful to see students engage with every learning phase from the research and critical thinking to working together in teams and, of course, trying new art skills.
Due to current restrictions, we were not able to have the usual crowd at the gallery opening. However, on the first day we were joined by our school council chair, Linda Csellak, and by Sandra Lee, who represented JCSRS PTA. Our CEO Belinda Greer has also joined the opening celebrations and congratulated students and colleagues for all the passion and creativity they invested in this powerful deeper learning project. I would like to thank them all for their support and for representing our school council, PTA and ESF community at this important event.
I would like to once again thank our staff for planning the stimulating learning that developed students’ global competencies of critical thinking and communication. Most importantly, I would like to thank Sally Fryer, our Visual Art Coordinator, for providing fantastic leadership of this project.
All the individual art pieces will be sent home and the group projects will be appropriately displayed at school.
I hope that you will have a lovely weekend.
Warm regards,
Anna
