Dear all,
I hope this newsletter finds you well and that you and your loved ones are in good health. I am relieved to inform you that our school building has come out of Typhoon Saola without any serious damage. I appreciate your support last week with the typhoon and Friday's switch to online learning. Hopefully, Typhoon Haikui will not cause too much disruption to learning this week, but please watch out for any updates.
I hope to see all parents tomorrow, Tuesday, 5 September, during the Meet the Teacher event. This is an excellent chance to meet your teacher and therapist and get any questions parents may have about the school answered. We will start with a session at 5 pm in the hall where we will share with you important school improvement updates. This will be followed by class meetings. The focus of this event is to strengthen school and family engagement.
Parents can support the school and engage in its work in different ways. We have one parent representative vacancy on our School Council, with nominations closing on Wednesday, 6th September. We will be using an e-voting system to run the election. Starting from the 11th of September, parents can vote by logging into Gateway and accessing the e-voting platform via the listed hyperlink. The e-voting will close at 5 pm on the 18th of September.
You can also get involved in the work of the JCSRS Parent Teacher Association. Please read carefully the PTA notice about the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 27th September at 5.30 pm. If you want to be considered for any of the positions on the PTA Committee, please return your nomination form to the school (via email or in person) by Friday, 22nd September.
I believe that a shared understanding of our school's vision and mission is key to creating a strong and supportive learning community. We encourage students, staff and parents to engage with us in this journey and to share their thoughts and feedback. I hope the opportunities we are creating throughout the school year will support school-family engagement and our mission of Everyone Happy, Everyone Engaged, and Everyone Learning.
Thank you for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Anna
Dear Parents,
I am writing to give you notice of the upcoming Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday 27th September 5:30 pm in the Jockey Club Sarah Roe School (JCSRS) Hall. All parents are warmly invited to attend the PTA AGM. The formal notice of the PTA AGM (see below) lists the transaction of business for the meeting.
Item 4 of business is:
To elect Committee members and nominate School Council Parent Representative.
All parents of JCSRS are automatically members of the JCSRS PTA. Should you wish to nominate yourself to be a Parent Representative on the PTA, please complete the Nomination Form attached by Friday the 22nd of September. The position of Parent Representative serves a one-year term on the PTA. Each year parents wishing to be a parent representative on the PTA, whether existing PTA Parent Representatives or not, need to complete the Nomination Form and return to the school by Friday 22nd September if you wish to be considered for this position.
The PTA Committee consists of: |
Principal Member, Ex Officio Office Bearers
8-10 Parent Representatives 1-3 Teacher (and/or Therapist) Representatives |
I will be stepping down from my position as PTA Chairperson and Shuk Ting Chan (Suki) will be stepping down from her position as Honorary Treasurer this year. On the nomination form, you are asked to tick the position that you wish to be nominated for. If we have more than one candidate nominated for any of the office bearer positions, or if there are more than 10 parents wishing to be parent representatives on the PTA, then we will need to have a vote at the AGM.
I would like to thank you all for your support in my role as Chairperson. I have greatly valued your input and support. Wishing you all the very best for the academic year ahead.
Yours Sincerely,
Megan

In Hong Kong, seasonal influenza is generally more prevalent from January to March/April and in July and August.
Please remember to check your child's temperature before going to school.
If your child has a fever, they should stay at home to rest until symptoms have improved and their fever has subsided for at least two days.
Seasonal influenza vaccination and maintaining good personal and environmental hygiene are effective ways to prevent influenza.
The world is rich with diversity, which is reflected in the observances celebrated by its various cultures and populations. We hope that knowledge of the holidays and celebrations for diversity in this calendar can enhance our school's diversity and inclusion efforts.
