Dear all,
As another productive week in the life of our school comes to an end, it is good to look back and reflect on some of the highlights and be reminded what an engaged community we have in our school.
I am thrilled to announce that our recent Walkathon was a huge success. Together, we raised an impressive amount of HK$34,180, which we will donate to HandsOn Hong Kong, a charity focused on rethinking plastic. Our JCSRS student council selected this charity as part of our commitment to ensuring a more sustainable environment. I am incredibly proud of our student council members for their efforts in researching and selecting a charity that aligns with our school's core values.
It was also wonderful to see so many parents, family members, Kowloon Junior School students and our School Council members joining us at this event. Ice cream from the JCSRS PTA was a great ending to our annual charity event, and we were all thankful for this treat.
Last week, all students and staff had the pleasure of participating in the Diwali assembly led by the Sapphire class. We had the opportunity to learn more about the importance of Diwali and enjoyed watching our students perform and showcase their dance moves. I want to extend my appreciation to our teachers and staff members for organising a fantastic event and to our students for their enthusiastic participation.
Christmas is just around the corner, as we are reminded not only by the abundance of Christmas decorations in shops but also by the much cooler weather. Our Christmas Show this year is cancelled, but we will have plenty of fun activities taking place over the next few weeks.
JCSRS PTA will have a stall at the KGV School's Winter Festival on Friday, 8th December, from 5 to 8 pm. Please consider volunteering your time or sending items for sale to support our school. More information is below.
On the 8th of December, we will open Santa’s Grotto to all JCSRS students. We are currently recruiting JCSRS Santa, so please email Sylvia, our PTA Administrator, if you know a suitable candidate (all family members are welcome to apply for this role).
Take note of all other important dates in November and December, and thank you for your continued support.
Best regards,
Anna
This year, we will participate in the KGV School's Winter Festival on Friday, December 8th, from 5-8 p.m. JCSRS PTA will host two festive stalls to fundraise for the school - a Bake Sale and a Gift Sale.
Secondary students will create handmade jewellery and chocolate-covered marshmallow jars for sale.
In addition, we need your support for the following:-
Send individually packed home-baked items (labelled with ingredients) to school on Friday, 8 December. Kindly be reminded of the ‘No nut’ policy for any food prepared.
Sign up to volunteer for 45 minutes on the day between 4 and 8:30 p.m. to operate the stalls and help with set up and clear up. Your child can help if you think it will be appropriate.
Donate unused items or unwanted gifts to the school for the Gift Sale table from now until Wednesday, 6 December.
Kindly fill in the Google form sent to you today to indicate how you would like to contribute on this occasion.
Your support and involvement are crucial in making this Winter Festival a memorable experience for everyone. We sincerely appreciate your commitment to our school community.

What next after JCSRS?
Thursday, 29th February, 5 - 6.30 pm
Start planning your child’s transition after JCSRS by attending this session to hear from a range of outside agencies and speak directly with representatives who can provide information to support your transition planning.
Agencies include Love 21, Nesbitt Centre, YES: Youth Empowerment Services, SENsational Foundation, Lohas Garden and more.
For the last few weeks, we have had a selection of students taking part in golf training with Special Olympics at Tuen Mun Golf Centre. We have certainly seen an improvement by all.
The student council have done a wonderful job this month making decisions behind the scenes about our Walkathon. With a focus on sustainability this year, they have selected a charity that finds alternatives to plastic. The council did an amazing job promoting the Walkathon through their posters and during assemblies.
A massive well done to all students for their participation in the Walkathon, along with the great amount of money raised. Also, a big thank you to all the supporting adults who made the day truly special and managed to boost their daily step count.
Thank you,
Andy
