Dear all,
I want to start this newsletter message by offering heartfelt congratulations to all JCSRS 2024 graduates. Their hard work, dedication, and perseverance have led them to this incredible milestone, and we are so proud of them. The graduation ceremony was a truly remarkable and memorable event, filled with joy, celebration, and a sense of accomplishment. It was a celebration and recognition of our graduates' skills and competencies, such as character, communication, critical thinking, creativity, leadership, and more. I felt honoured to be a part of such an important event. On behalf of all staff, I want to wish our graduates bright futures filled with new adventures and learning, a life rich with engaging and fulfilling activities, and, most importantly, a world full of joy and happiness.
This week was also filled with many exciting activities for our students, staff and parents.
The PTA social event was a resounding success and was well attended by our school community. It was a wonderful opportunity for parents and staff to come together in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Holly Yip, our dedicated PTA Administrator, for her outstanding organisation of the event. We look forward to more collaborative and enriching events in the future.
We are thrilled to announce that our school's bid to the Welfare Department Lottery Fund for funding to purchase a new school bus was successful. The order has been placed, and we expect the new bus to be in operation from May 2025. This achievement will greatly benefit our school community and enhance our transportation capabilities for school activities and transport to school. We are grateful for the support from the Welfare Department and look forward to the positive impact this new addition will have on our school.
We are incredibly proud of the JCSRS dancers who participated yesterday in the ESF Evening of Dance. Their dedication and talent were truly showcased, and they represented our school with grace and passion. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff who supported the students in putting the dance routine together and preparing them for the night. In particular, we extend a special thanks to Edel, who missed his wife's birthday to provide unwavering support to our students. Their hard work and commitment have not gone unnoticed, and we are extremely grateful for their exceptional efforts.
Today was a significant day for all students as they participated in the class swap morning. This event provided an invaluable opportunity for students to meet their new classmates and interact with the staff who will support them in the coming year. It was a culmination of everyone's efforts to ensure a smooth and positive transition, and we are excited to see the new friendships that will flourish as our students embark on the next phase of their educational journey.
I look forward to celebrating the achievements of our students in the remaining two weeks of school and continuing our strong partnership in the future.
Warm regards,
Anna
Last week, our community School Council representatives spent valuable time in classes engaging with students and staff members. This interaction provided an excellent opportunity for the council to gain insights into the daily dynamics of our school and foster a deeper understanding of the learning environment. Additionally, they had a productive meeting with the Student Council, where the student representatives enthusiastically shared their impactful work and initiatives.
Their visit was a great way to further strengthen the bond between our school and the School Council and we look forward to continued collaboration for the improvement of our school. Special thanks to our staff for accommodating the visit and to Andy for leading our Student Council.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to our esteemed school council representatives who will be leaving us. Their dedication, hard work, and unwavering support have made a significant impact on our school community.
Michelle McEwan, parent-elected representative, and Marie-Claire Slama, PTA-appointed parent representative, both served four years on the school council: their thoughtful insights, tireless efforts, and commitment to improving our school have been invaluable, and they will be greatly missed.
Pamela Garz, our teacher representative: her passion for education and advocacy for the best interests of our school community have left a lasting impression on all of us.
While we are sad to see them go, we are immensely grateful for the positive impact they have had during their time as school council representatives. Their hard work and dedication have helped shape the future of our school, and for that, we are truly thankful.
We wish Michelle, Marie-Claire, and Pam all the best in their future endeavours, and we hope that they will always remain a part of our school community in spirit. Your contributions have made a difference, and you will always be valued members of our extended school family.
Following a successful celebration of cultural diversity, we would like to ask families to donate a book to the library that reflects the culture of your home. This can be an existing book that you have outgrown or a new one - anything that expresses something about your culture at home. Ideally, the books will have lots of pictures and a simple writing style. Some ideas are:
Books about your home country or city
Traditional tales from your culture
Children’s picture book in your native language
Books about a religion or festival that you celebrate
Children’s recipe books that reflect your culture
While travelling this summer, please consider picking up a book that will enhance our library and help all our students be represented. These will be collected after the summer break.
The world is rich with diversity, which is reflected in the observances celebrated by its various cultures and populations. We hope that knowledge of the holidays and celebrations for diversity in this calendar can enhance our school's diversity and inclusion efforts.

June is recognised as Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT) Global Awareness Month, dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding of this rare genetic disorder. HHT can cause abnormal blood vessel formation in various organs, leading to complications such as strokes, aneurysms, and lung and liver problems. Unfortunately, many people with HHT go undiagnosed due to a lack of awareness and understanding of this condition.
To help spread awareness and education about HHT, follow the Instagram page @hht852, which focuses on raising awareness of HHT in Hong Kong. The page shares information about HHT, personal stories from individuals with HHT, and updates on events and initiatives related to this condition. You can also find more information on HTT here.
Additionally, if you or someone you know has been diagnosed with HHT or suspects they may have it, seeking medical attention and receiving proper care is crucial. You can also reach out to HHT852@hotmail.com for more information and support. Together, we can help those affected by HHT and promote greater understanding and awareness of this condition during HHT Global Awareness Month and beyond.
