Dear all,
As the weather warnings disrupted students' learning, I want to thank everyone for their understanding and flexibility.
I would like to remind everyone that our "JCSRS Vision in Action - One Space at a Time" event has been rescheduled to 27 November at 4.30 pm. I look forward to seeing our parents and students at this significant event.
Last week's “What Next After JCSRS” event was an important opportunity for families to plan for their children’s lives after school. I would like to extend my gratitude to our staff who prepared this session and congratulate Jessica, our alumni, on her outstanding presentation.
I am pleased to report that the overnight camp at school for our Year 6 and 7 students was a great success! It served as excellent preparation for the upcoming secondary 3-day camp, with students and parents enjoying a variety of activities planned by our dedicated staff. Thank you to all the staff who organised the camp and stayed overnight to support our students.
The recent Parent Teacher Therapist Conference was a valuable opportunity to share and collaborate on our students' learning. If you were unable to attend and would like to meet with your class teacher or therapist, please do not hesitate to get in touch with them.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our students’ success.
Warm regards,
Anna
Due to the severe weather warning, we have rescheduled the JCSRS Vision in Action - One Space at a Time event. The event will now take place on 27th November 2024 instead of the originally planned date of 14th November.
Your attendance would mean a great deal to us, and we look forward to welcoming you to our school.
Please RSVP by the 20th of November using the form shared via the ESF App message sent on the 13th of November.
Secondary families from JCSRS and other ESF schools attending our annual “What next after JCSRS?” session were provided with up-to-date information on a range of HK agencies, including information from a new presenting team from VTC's Shine Skills Centre.
Feedback on the content and range of growing opportunities for our graduates were positively received by attending families. A particular highlight was alum Jessica Hudson returning to provide her insights and experiences since leaving JCSRS.
Any families seeking further information can contact Belinda McLaughlin.
Last week, we welcomed two students from KGV who selected JCSRS for their Year 12 Challenge Week.
Mo enjoyed a week in Silver class. Her lasting memories included "an enjoyable time spent forming bonds with the people, especially the students. It meant so much to get to know the students and earn their trust, and I won't ever forget the happiness of hearing them cheer my name when I came into school each morning. I also enjoyed being entrusted with responsibilities as I knew I was making a definite difference. I will miss all the students and staff very much."
Tiffany enjoyed a week in Jade class. Her lasting memories of JCSRS included "a week of insightful experiential learning that I wouldn't normally encounter in my daily life. I found the experience fun and enjoyed forming close bonds and relationships with many students and even the staff! If I had another opportunity to come back and work with the students, I would definitely come again."
We warmly welcome families to our annual JCSRS Christmas performance - The Nutcracker. Please look out for an ESF App message to express your intention for tickets.
Get ready to spread some holiday cheer! We are seeking parent volunteers for the upcoming festive events:
Santa's Grotto (6 Dec): We're looking for a jolly Santa or a merry Mrs. Claus to entertain our students.
Christmas Fundraising Stall (11, 12 Dec): Donate baked goods, or set up and run a festive stall to raise funds for new gym equipment.
More details and volunteer sign-up will be shared soon.
On Friday, 1st November, Jade and Ruby students embarked on an educational excursion to the Hong Kong Science Museum. This outing provided an invaluable opportunity for our post-16 students to engage with the marvels of science and technology in an interactive setting.
Some students travelled via public transport, developing their independence as they navigated the city via MTR. Meanwhile, others travelled on the school bus, enjoying a collective journey with their peers.
Upon entering the museum, students were excited by the diverse exhibitions, which included the Biodiversity Gallery, World of Mirrors, Electricity and Magnetism Gallery and the Earth Science Gallery.
The visit was educational and fostered friendships among the students of Jade class and Ruby class.
The world is rich with diversity, which is reflected in the observances celebrated by its various cultures and populations. We hope that knowledge of the holidays and celebrations for diversity in this calendar can enhance our school's diversity and inclusion efforts.
