Dear all,
I am thrilled to reflect on the recent Vision in Action - One Space at a Time event, where it was fantastic to see so many parents and ESF colleagues come together to celebrate with us. Your presence and support made this occasion truly special, highlighting the strong community we have built around our shared vision for our students.
During the event, our Student Council did an exceptional job facilitating tours of the newly renovated spaces, proudly showcasing the enhancements made to our school. We were also treated to a spectacular lion dance performance, followed by an exhilarating Mulan performance by our students. In the "Vision in Action - One Space at a Time" video, students captured the essence of our vision and mission in their own words, reflecting what we all strive to achieve.
It was a memorable evening filled with joy, pride, and a sense of accomplishment as we celebrated the progress we have made together. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the staff who supported the preparation for the event. I encourage you to visit our Facebook page to view the photos from the event.
The renovations of our school reflect our unwavering commitment to our vision: ensuring that every student can be the best that they can be. To realise this vision, we must cultivate the best possible learning environment - one where every student feels safe, happy, and engaged. As we celebrate the completion of Phase 1 out of 5 of our renovation project, we recognise that this is a testament to the ESF's dedication to providing inclusive education.
This renovation goes beyond improving physical spaces; it demonstrates our appreciation for our students and community. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all staff, families, and community members who have supported us throughout this journey. A special thank you to our CEO, Belinda Greer, our School Council, and the JCSRS PTA. Their involvement has made this project possible.
As the festive season approaches, I'm excited to announce that preparations for our Christmas events are in full swing! We will have Santa's Grotto and the Christmas show The Nutcracker, both of which will bring joy and celebration to our school. There is still time to sign up and help with the Christmas fundraising stall, which will support the purchase of new gym equipment.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the PTA for the delicious birthday cakes provided for our staff celebrating their birthdays in November and December.
Thank you for your continued support and for being integral to our school community. Together, we are creating a supportive and empowering environment where everyone can be happy, engaged, and learning.
Warm regards,
Anna
It’s not every day you meet a Paralympian and hold a gold medal.
This week, our Post-16 students working in Manulife were treated to a special event with two-time Paralympian Ho Yuen-kei. Students and staff had the chance to hear about Yuen-kei’s journey as a boccia athlete, experience playing the sport, and hold her Paris Paralympic gold medals.
Big thanks to the team at Manulife for enabling this opportunity for our students.
Today, we welcomed parents and carers to part one of the OT workshop on Empowering Children in Self-Care. This informative session provided invaluable insights into managing challenges related to toileting and sleep.
Participants engaged in discussions and learned practical strategies to better support children in developing their independence and confidence in these essential areas. Through this workshop, parents and carers gained tools to foster routines and navigate potential obstacles effectively.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making this workshop a success. We look forward to continuing our journey in empowering children to take charge of their self-care journey.
Stay tuned for part two, scheduled for January 2025, for a more in-depth discussion in small groups on the strategies you have tried and any specific challenges you are facing related to sleep and toileting. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
Please see the presentation slides and video recording for a recap of the session.

For the past six weeks, our Post-16 students have been honing their skills in managing emergency situations. They have learned the difference between being sick or injured. They have explored which types of injuries can be managed at home and which ones need professional help. Ruby and Jade students have also practised managing small and large wounds through role play.
The learning culminated in a first aid workshop that included three simulated situations. Students tended to staff with simulated injuries. This required them to assess the situation and follow a clear plan of action. Students found the session highly engaging, and they were keen to lend a helping hand. We aim to leave our oldest students with lifelong skills that will prepare them for their adult lives.
It's time to celebrate our birthday staff! The PTA is excited to treat our November and December birthday stars to a yummy cake - thank you for everything you do!
There's more holiday cheer! The sign-up for Christmas volunteers is still open, so please don't hesitate to join us at Santa's Grotto and the fundraising stall. We also welcome donations of baked goods and festive items for sale to help raise funds for replacing gym equipment for our students.

The world is rich with diversity, which is reflected in the observances celebrated by its various cultures and populations. We hope that knowledge of the holidays and celebrations for diversity in this calendar can enhance our school's diversity and inclusion efforts.
