Dear all,
As we approach the festive season, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the recent events that have brought our community together in such a wonderful way.
The Nutcracker performance was truly enchanting and showcased the enthusiasm and incredible talent of our students. It was heartwarming to see their hard work and dedication come to life on stage, embodying our JCSRS Vision in Action — One Show at a Time.
I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all our staff for their support in making the show a resounding success. From managing the stage and lighting to supporting individual class performances, your teamwork truly shone. A special thank you to our Expressive Art teacher, Jackie, and our Curriculum Leader, Karen, for directing this memorable performance and Visual Art teacher, Alfert and his army of helpers for creating Santa’s Grotto and enhancing our school environment for this festive season. Your efforts have truly transformed our school into a Nutcracker Wonderland where our students' talents can shine.
I also want to acknowledge our student bakers for their delicious brownies and biscuits and our student jewellery makers and thank all the parents who generously donated to our fundraiser. I am thrilled to announce that we raised HK$10,480 to support our goal of providing new gym equipment for our students. Your contributions will greatly enhance our students' learning experiences and promote physical activity.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all our parent volunteers, especially our Santas, Mrs. Claus, and the Elves, for their incredible support during Santa's Grotto last week. It brought immense joy to our students, and their excitement was truly infectious! Your dedication helped create a magical experience for everyone involved.
The first term ends on high, with us celebrating our student success in a range of sports events and programmes. As always, I want to thank our PE teacher, Mike, for creating so many opportunities for our students and keeping them active and inspired. Please keep an eye out for more sports and art events next term.
As we wrap up this term and look forward to the holiday season, I wish each and every one of you a joyful and relaxing time with your loved ones. May this festive season be filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished moments.
Thank you all for your continued support, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back in the new year!
Merry Christmas,
Anna
A Magical Afternoon at JCSRS Christmas Show: The Nutcracker!
JCSRS was filled with enthusiasm and joy as students took to the stage for a spectacular performance of The Nutcracker. Their hard work and dedication shone through, creating a magical afternoon that delighted everyone in attendance.
A heartfelt thank you to all the staff who made this event possible. Your support and commitment ensured a seamless and memorable show for all.
Happy Holidays to our wonderful school community!

Today, our students had the incredible opportunity to attend a captivating show presented by the Poetry In Action theatre company. The shows are performed by professional actors from Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Dubai, and are created by professional writers and directors.
The 45-minute Unlocking The Poetry Code performance was a fun and high-energy introduction to poetic techniques such as rhyme, rhythm, imagery and theme. Students were treated to a variety of poetic styles, each exploring themes of identity, resilience, and the human experience. The performers’ energy and passion brought the words to life.
Following the show, students interacted briefly with the performers, sharing their thoughts and feelings about the pieces they had experienced. This enriching experience enhanced their appreciation for literature. We look forward to more events like this that encourage creativity and critical thinking in our school!
This week, the KGV neuro-diversity team offered an inclusive and engaging opportunity for some of our secondary students to develop fine motor skills whilst enjoying social interactions by decorating Christmas-themed baked goods. Our students enjoyed the experience, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with this committed group of learners.
As we move through to the end of the term, I'd like to share the busy last few weeks in PE and the wonderful experiences our students have had recently.
These events not only highlight our students' talents and hard work but also foster a sense of community and teamwork.
I'd also like to thank you, our students' parents, for your ongoing support in allowing us to create a nurturing environment for your children to learn and grow.
Golf Day at Sai Kung: We had a fantastic time on the Special Olympics Golf Day! Anna joined Colman, Jack, Jadon, Jonathan K and Nicklaus, who showcased their skills from the 6-week golf course at Tuen Mun. They practised driving at the range, learned chipping onto the green, and tackled bunker shots and putting. A special highlight was Nick's incredible hole-in-one from 20 yards away!
Sailability Sponsored Day: Isabel, Jeremy, Kaden and Sethika enjoyed a thrilling day on the water as they captained a boat off the coast of Sai Kung, thanks to Sailability's generous sponsorship.
Special Olympics Fun Day: Our students from Diamond, Gold and Sapphire classes had a fantastic experience at Kings Park, where they participated in various sports organised by Special Olympics, including basketball, bocce, football and snowshoeing.
Track and Field Events: Last Saturday, our students displayed their athletic talents in track and field events, including the 25m, 100m and 200m races, the 4 x 100m relay, and beanbag and softball throw. Please see the full results in the table below.

We are looking forward to our revised date for the whole-school visit to Inspiration Lake on Monday, 13th January. Please remember to sign the eNotice and let us know if you would like to join us on the coach from school.
Exciting news! Thanks to the generous support of the dedicated PTA, the school was able to purchase a fantastic new play set. We know our students will absolutely love exploring and having fun on the climbers and benefit significantly by improving their physical skills, engaging in imaginative play, and fostering social interactions outdoors.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents for your incredible support at our fundraising stall! Thank you, parents, for making these possible.
The world is rich with diversity, which is reflected in the observances celebrated by its various cultures and populations. We hope that knowledge of the holidays and celebrations for diversity in this calendar can enhance our school's diversity and inclusion efforts.
