Dear all,
I hope this message finds you well as we continue to make the most of this vibrant term. Last week, we celebrated love and friendship with our Valentine’s Disco, and it was a fantastic success! The music, carefully chosen by our students, set the perfect tone for the event, and everyone—students and staff alike—had a wonderful time dancing and enjoying the delicious snacks provided by our PTA. It was heartwarming to see our school community come together in such a joyful way.
On 14th February, our school softball team made us incredibly proud by winning the Po Leung Kuk Anita L. L. Chan (Centenary) School 8th Inclusive Softball Competition! Their hard work, teamwork, and determination paid off, and we couldn’t be happier for them. Check out our social media or read on to see the winning team.
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of joining our secondary students on their hike. Not only was it a great opportunity for students to practise their independence and outdoor skills, but it was also a wonderful social occasion. The camaraderie and strong friendships on display were truly inspiring. These moments remind us of the importance of fostering both personal growth and meaningful connections within our school community.
In assembly this week, we took a moment to bid farewell to two of our students, Joshua and Jacob, who will be relocating. While we are sad to see them go, we wish them every success in their new school and hope they will stay in touch. Joshua and Jacob have been valued members of our JCSRS family, and we are confident they will thrive in their new environment.
A quick reminder to please book your time for the upcoming Parent Teacher Therapist Consultation. This is a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and collaborate with our dedicated team to support their continued growth. Booking details can be found in this newsletter, so don’t miss out!
Also featured in the newsletter, be sure to read more about our upcoming Book Week! It’s going to be an exciting celebration of reading, storytelling, and creativity.
As always, thank you for your continued support and involvement in making JCSRS such a special place.
Warm regards,
Anna
Book Week on 3 - 7 March 2025
Our theme this year is ‘Read The World’. We will be celebrating different languages and the stories they tell. We would like to invite parents to come and read a story to your child’s class. The story could be a family favourite, a traditional tale or even a story in your mother tongue. We would like our students to share a little bit about their home life and culture through stories and books.
If you would like to volunteer and have time during our Book Week dates, please contact class teachers directly to arrange a suitable time.
We are also looking for volunteers to come and help cover books in the library. If you have a couple of hours to offer regularly or as a one-off, please contact Karen Carmody (Literacy Coordinator / Librarian) at karen.carmody@jcsrs.edu.hk.
Congratulations to our JCSRS Softball Team!
We are thrilled to announce that our softball team emerged victorious in the Po Leung Kuk Anita L. L. Chan (Centenary) School 8th Inclusive Softball Competition! The dedication shown during the two full-day practices alongside SIS and KGV Learning Support students truly paid off on competition day.
It was heartwarming to witness the friendships that have blossomed over the years among the returning ESF students, as well as the growth in their skills and understanding of the game.
We extend our sincere thanks to TWGHs Kwan Fong Kai Chi School and PLK Anita L. L. Chan (Centenary) School for their participation. A special acknowledgement goes to William Wong (PLKCS) for expertly organising the tournament and to the Hong Kong China Softball Association for the use of the Tin Kwong Road softball field.
The Pearl Class students' learning has focused on the inspiring theme "Come Outside". This transdisciplinary theme beautifully weaves skills and knowledge from various subjects, including "The World Around Me" and "Play, Leisure, and Recreation".
To enhance this learning journey, the students took weekly trips to the Cha Kwo Ling Promenade Playground, enjoying the refreshing outdoor experiences in the cooler weather. They played together joyfully, demonstrating great courage on the big slides.
Students showed off their moves at the Valentine’s Disco last week, having a blast dancing with each other. We are very proud of our DJs, Aryan and Rowan, who played a fantastic selection of songs chosen by our students. A special shoutout to Jadon and Shivansh, our catering crew, for preparing and serving the snacks!
Thanks to the contributions of the PTA, the popcorn and fresh fruits made the day perfect.
ESF values opportunities to engage with parents on issues impacting the ESF experience. Typically, these issues are resolved informally with the class teacher, Vice Principal or Principal. However, when matters remain unresolved and escalate to formal complaints, ESF aims to address them effectively and gain insights for continuous improvement.
To this end, ESF has developed a Complaints Management System (CMS). The CMS features an online Complaint Form that parents can use to lodge formal complaints. This system is part of the updated ESF Complaints Policy and is accessible via the ESF App ("Complaints" icon in VLE).
For any families who would like access to an abridged version of the slides shared at last week’s Digital Safety parent workshop, please contact belinda.mclaughlin@jcsrs.edu.hk.
