Dear JCSRS Community,
As we come to the end of another busy and productive autumn term, I would like to sincerely thank all staff, students, and parents for your ongoing hard work and support for the school. Each one of us will, I’m sure, have our own highlight of the term – this week’s highlight for many was undoubtedly the festive joy of Santa’s Grotto!
These last two weeks have provided a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the incredible talent and spirit within our school. Our 40th-anniversary show and the many Christmas events beautifully showcased not only the wonderful abilities of our students but also the inclusive and supportive ethos and culture that we cherish at JCSRS. These moments remind us how much we have to be grateful for and how proud we can be of our ongoing achievements.
We also take this opportunity to wish the very best to several members of our community who will be starting new adventures in January. We extend warm farewells to three of our students as they transition to new schools, and we also say a heartfelt thank you and goodbye to Daphne Ip, our long-serving Occupational Therapist. Daphne’s dedication, expertise and warmth have made a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues, and we wish her every success in her new role.
I have been so encouraged by the many messages of goodwill and thanks from across our community, which truly reflect the gratitude we feel for the excellent work of our staff. That attitude of gratitude is a testament to the delightful students we have in our school and the wonderful work we are all doing together to nurture kindness and strong character in them, whom you entrust to us each week.
I am confident that 2026 will be an even more successful chapter in JCSRS history, and I look forward to exciting future developments at the school.
On that positive note, I wish you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas and a productive and successful New Year. We look forward to welcoming all students back to school on Monday, 5 January, and hope to see many of you at the Inspiration Lake picnic on Thursday, 8 January.
Warm regards,
Anna
Save the date – volunteer sign-up coming soon!
Join us for a day of community celebration at our JCSRS 40th Birthday Fun Day on Saturday, 24 January (10 am – 2 pm). To ensure this event is a memorable success, we will be seeking volunteers from our parent and staff community. Please look out for the official invitation and volunteer sign-up form in early January. We hope you can be part of this special day!
This is a reminder that we have postponed the whole-school picnic trip to Inspiration Lake to Thursday, 8 January 2026.
We look forward to gathering as a community on the new date.
We were delighted to welcome second‑year Speech Therapy students from HKU Speechians’ Action to JCSRS for their Christmas activities. They designed and led fun, engaging sessions for both our primary and secondary classes – full of creativity, warmth, and meaningful interaction.
Feedback from the HKU students was very positive: they described the day as a truly valuable experience and sincerely appreciated the chance to engage with our students. They’re excited to begin their placements next year and hope to return to work with us again in the future.
Thanks again to the HKU Speechians for their enthusiasm and support – our students and staff enjoyed the fun activities!
The world is rich with diversity, which is reflected in the observances celebrated by its various cultures and populations. We hope that knowledge of the holidays and celebrations for diversity in this calendar can enhance our school's diversity and inclusion efforts.
